CHAPTER
Turning your Palm
®
Treo

smartphone on/off
The term smartphone refers to the device
and its physical aspects. The term phone
refers to the wireless feature of your Palm
®
Treo
750 smartphone that enables you to
connect to your wireless service provider’s
network so that you can make and receive
calls and send and receive data.
The phone and the screen of your
smartphone can be turned off and on
separately. This means you can wake up
the screen to use just the organizer
features of your device without turning on
the phone. Also, when the screen is turned
off, the phone can be on and ready for you
to receive phone calls or messages.
Turning your phone on
Press and hold Power/End . When
your smartphone locates a signal, your
wireless service provider’s name appears
in the upper-left of the screen and the
signal-strength icon appears at the top
of the screen.
When you turn on your phone, it connects
to a mobile network so that you can make
and receive phone calls and use other
wireless services (if supported by the local
network). When you are inside a coverage
area, the signal-strength icon has bars
in it. If you’re outside a coverage area, the
indicator light flashes amber and no bars
appear in the signal-strength icon.
Turning your phone off
Press and hold Power/End . When
your phone is off, the phone-off icon
appears at the top of the screen and
Phone Off appears in the upper-left of the
screen. Your phone is not connected to any
mobile network. Although you can no
longer use the phone, you can still use
Microsoft Office apps and all the organizer
features of your smartphone.
